A Farm stay style bed & breakfast
Historic Bonny Doon (Santa Cruz Mountains) is a rural mountain village set among redwoods, wineries and pastures. Some of the best beaches in California are just two miles away. We have dozens of wineries nearby famed for their Pinot Noir.
FlipJack Ranch is an historic 1882 farm set in towering redwoods and golden fields. Our first ranchers were the Gai family (1882-1952). Joseph Gai's nephew built the central portion of our present ranch house in 1928. In 1952, the Strong family moved in and raised 11 children here! Mr. and Mrs Strong ran a bed and breakfast, "Redwood Reflections" here on the ranch after their children grew up.
Bonny Doon was settled by Europeans beginning in the 1850's. In the 1880's there were about 25 family farms, mostly settled by Italian immigrants who planted vineyards.
We opened the ranch to bed and breakfast guests just this June 2014! FlipJack is run as a working farm so guests can enjoy a unique experience. You are welcome to join in chores if you like or just meet our friendly chickens, crazy ducks, geese, turkeys, lambs, goats and funny wooley pigs. On the ranch, our goal is to produce the finest cheeses, wines, meats and preserves from the best fresh, farm ingredients.
